Subject: 

J. HOWARD SHEELER MEMORIAL FUND AWARD

Purpose:

A.     To perpetuate the memory and achievements of an exemplary Shippensburg Band member.

B.      To reward a student musician for outstanding scholastic and academic achievement in the music field.

C.     To expose students to the Shippensburg Band and its activities, and to stimulate interest in the Shippensburg Band among the student community.

Award:

$100.00 U.S. Savings Bond purchased with interest generated from a self-perpetuating fund.

Qualifying Requirements:

A.     Must be a Shippensburg High School senior.

B.      Must be involved in an established Shippensburg High School music program.

C.     Must have been an active member of the Shippensburg Band for at least two years prior to receiving the award.

Selection of Recipient:

Selection of a recipient for the J. HOWARD SHEELER MEMORIAL FUND AWARD will be made by the Shippensburg Band Executive Committee based on information and recommendations supplied by school personnel (teachers, counselors, etc.).

Should no qualified candidate be available, the Savings Bond will not be awarded and all money will revert back into the fund principal.

Selection of recipient and presentation of the award will be made at the end of the school year.
